Dr. Madelein Kleyn is a registered South African patent attorney and Attorney of the High Court with 30+ years’ experience in IP strategy, licensing, technology transfer, and data privacy across petrochemical, agricultural, and fintech sectors. She is Chief Legal and IP Officer at Omnisient and CEO of Mad K IP Consulting. Previously, she led Technology Transfer at Innovus, Stellenbosch University, and held senior IP roles at Sasol and Oro Agri (Rovensa Next).

A past Vice President of LESI and current Vice President of LES South Africa, she is Research Fellow at the Anton Mostert Chair of IP, lectured in the Patent and Design LLM at Stellenbosch University, and teaches IP Management and Technology Commercialisation at THI – Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, Germany. She is co-editor and South African chapter co-author of International Pharmaceutical Law and Practice(LexisNexis) and contributor to several international handbooks on IP, licensing, and technology transfer. She holds a BSc, BProc, LLB, LLM (Tax), and PhD in IP Law, and is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional. Recognised in IAM Strategy 300 and WTR 300, she has received multiple awards for IP leadership.
