Antonio Di Bernardo is an Italian and European patent and trademark attorney with extensive experience representing clients before leading national and international intellectual property authorities, including the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), the European Patent Office (EPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). His practice covers patents, trademarks, and designs, with a focus on complex, technology-driven innovations across multiple industries.
Mr. Di Bernardo holds a degree in electronic engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan, specializing in the physical and mathematical aspects of electronics. His academic work included a thesis on laser transmission developed in collaboration with the University of Milan and Paris-South University. He also earned a master’s degree in intellectual property management. He began his career in mobile networks and telecommunications systems, gaining technical expertise that strongly shaped his legal practice and professional approach.
Mr. Di Bernardo has developed a highly specialized patent practice in software and artificial intelligence, as well as in the TV and telecommunications sectors. He has in-depth knowledge of international standards, including DVB-T, UMTS, and LTE, and has been directly involved in litigation concerning Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) before national courts.
He is particularly active in IP litigation and regularly acts as a court-appointed technical expert and party expert in patent and software disputes, including computer forensics. He has assisted judicial authorities and public prosecutors in civil and criminal proceedings and is a co-author of several publications on patents, artificial intelligence, and intellectual property strategy.
